Yigal Gvili posted a job: Yahoo Tel Aviv is looking for Service/System Engineer (DevOps) "Responsibilities: • Ramp up and contribute to the day to day operations of P&T platforms. Operate and improve the site by implementing monitoring, automation, redundancy and business-continuity planning. • Plan and implement systems and process automation to enable rapid integration and deployment of features. • Work with global Product and Engineering teams as well as partners and customers. You will be a key Service Engineering Liaison in Tel Aviv for all things related to Operations and share global best practices and organizational knowledge with the Developer Team. • Work closely with the Product, Development and QA teams to plan releases, features under development, research, experiments and capacity expansions. • Work using Agile principles in an experienced Scrum team. You will plan and execute tech-driven projects such as OS upgrades, data-center migrations and IPv6. Qualifications: The ideal candidate enjoys a fun and very busy work environment, will jump in to debug and fix things, and multitasks and context-switches well. The candidate is talented across a variety of disciplines including: System Administration, Network Operations, Software Development, Build and Release Engineering, Performance Engineering, Site Operations. • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent • 2 years of industry experience • Strong understanding of best practices around web operations, software development, release engineering, quality assurance. • Substantial experience administering, supporting, debugging and tuning: o Unix-based OS on x86 hardware o Apache FOSS such as HTTP Server, Tomcat, Zookeeper, Solr o Monitoring: Nagios, rrd, cacti • Enjoys scripting and has excellent shell and scripting skills • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, SMTP, HTTP, load-balancers, highly available network servers • Hands on experience w/ revision control, build & release tools: Subversion, Perforce, CVS, git, make, ant, maven • Prior experience supporting 24x7, highly-available, service-oriented, distributed production system (>500 systems) and will eventually participate in on-call support rotation. • Highly independent in handling production system during crisis • Strong written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to write bugs, test cases, problem reports, in English" | |||||
